Words of wisdom: take your time looking for a puppy. Learn as much as you can about the breed. Bloodhounds are not for everyone. Talk to and try to visit several breeders. If they won't let you visit, walk away. Learn about the dogs in the pedigree. Ask for references and talk to owners of your breeder's puppies. Contact the American Bloodhound Club for a referral. Make sure the health clearances are done and posted on ofa.org. Don't settle for a 'cheap' pup, don't settle for an expensive pup with no health clearances, and don't be afraid to ask questions! It may take a year or two to find the right puppy but the wait, a little added cost for health clearances, and the research you have done will be worth it in the end.
